Ina Garten “Too Busy” to Cook with Make a Wish Child with Leukemia
Looks like the Heartless Contessa, Ina Garten, is going into full damage control to prevent further fall out after she denied Enzo, a six year old with leukemia, wish to cook with her not once but twice!! Enzo as his mother relates in her blog watched the Barefoot Contessa from his hospital bed while he was receiving his chemotherapy treatments. He was given a “soft no” due to a 10 month book tour on the first go around when the Make A Wish foundation first approached Ina about the request. Enzo, undaunted despite prodding from the Make A Wish Foundation to make a new request, simply said he’ll wait to make the request when she had more time. However, he was given a “definite no” when he made the request the second time.
A rep for Ina explained she gets “100 requests a month to support charitable causes” and can’t support them all.
Since then Ina claims not to have known about the request and made a call to Enzo to try to (make things right by inviting him to see a taping at the Food Network studios) protect her Food Network Franchise, book empire and what is now apparently a well orchestrated charade. The family turned down her – too little, too late – request with her dad saying ”I don’t want to put my son through all these emotions. We’re better off just leaving everything the way it is.” And Enzo is now going to fulfill a new wish the Make a Wish foundation to swim with dolphins in August. Good for you Enzo!
Now while many have come to Ina’s defense I’m not one of them obviously. I’m not buying the excuse she receives a 100 requests a month and just didn’t know especially given the fact it’s 1. the Make A Wish Foundation and 2. Enzo made the request twice!! She apparently had a change of heart when she started receiving negative publicity about it. Amazing how that works.
Ina did however miraculously find the time to throw a charity lunch for 6 socialites from the Hamptons, who paid $100,000,as reported by the business insider. I guess it’s all about priorities and of course how busy you are…

Nobody is that busy! Shame on you Ina. You can find the time to entertain all of your "friends" but you can't find time for a sweet little boy with leukemia? Not that you care what anybody thinks of your heartless decision but, I refuse to watch your show in the future.
